We talked to a few outfits before the Calco guy came around. We could see the quality and feel materials. Calco has a game plan from the call, knock on door, measuring and then presentation, schedule and installation. They had creative ideas for us to save money and lower the estimate. None of those were skipping steps or cheaper materials by the way. The installation looked like a camera on triple speed. They walked up 2 sets of stairs with everything and down to leave. They went from 65 yr old homemade tub installation to a walk in entrance into another world. When we cross the threshold we leave your world behind. The amazing shower head and wand are perfect for us. At 78 we got handrails and a teak fold down bench. I quickly realized I hadn’t been able to wash between my toes because of balance issues. A foot on the bench and a hand on the rail? Hello Mister Foot hadn’t seen you in a while, and your welcome toes. We’re putting in a washer dryer tower. Just think, a hot plate and a dorm refrigerator, 2 bags of sand and a sun lamp AND WE WILL VACATION FOR FREE. No canceled planes, no delayed trains or automobiles and Door Dash on speed dial. Thank you Calco. We’ll invite you to the BBQ opening but only room for one of you. BYORHaS Bring Your Own Rain Hat and Soap.

We had a tricky project (turning a large walk-in shower into a wet-room style bath and shower combo) and the process was still very easy! Our craftsmen Ed and Josh were both phenomenal, not just doing great work but also being kind and personable (my toddlers were both huge fans!). Val is a dream as well, communicating in a timely and direct manner. Even as far back in our project as our initial appointment was memorable, Neill was pleasant and informative!

Sales consultation was handled very well and Daniel was very responsive and helpful. Sample contract was shared ahead of time and the guarantee they offered was excellent. Once contracted, staff was consistently in touch. A couple small glitches around scheduling but we didn't have to wait long. Installation of walk-in shower went well with team of Tim and Dakota. Took a second day and required them to come back a week later to patch up some damaged walls and flooring. But their follow-up work was also very professional.

We have been extremely impressed with the team at Calvin, from the salesman, to the installation team of Matt Pierce and Anthony and even the office assistant , Christie, who kept was informed weekly and asked if we were satisfied the workmanship of the bathrooms are super! Matt and Anthony were very professional and asked questions through the projects. Our shower was enlarged and it look like it was always that way only much nicer! The other project invoked repealing a tub with a shower and it also turned out wonderful. I would definitely recommend Calco and our team of Matt Pierce and Anthony !!!

I honestly don’t have the words to describe not only how thrilled I am with our new bathroom….but how amazed I still am at the Professionalism, Work ethic, Proficiency, And kindness of the whole crew from top to bottom. These guys were in and out in 4 1/2 days- and we had a WHOLE bathroom remodel. I kept thinking during the process, Man, these guys are like machines (They rarely ever take a break) …. Or maybe they are robots. Hahahaha! I know that this sounds extreme, But I’m not exaggerating- At every step of the way, they were wonderful. I am so glad that we chose Calco, And we will be using them again. If you are on the fence- do it!! I can promise you will not be disappointed!!!!

My name’s Zac Jack. I’m a doughy, 37 year old stand-up comedian, and I’ve been a stay-at-home dad since emo was a thing, so when my bathroom finally started to literally melt under the strain of my utter incompetence when it comes to general maintenance, I threw up my hands and started looking for a grown-up to help me un-melt it. I went through a few companies gathering quotes for an entire bathroom remodel and rebuild; I even got messages from the company that had previously done “work” on the bathroom (that’s a hard pass from me, Bath Fitter), and it was looking grim. Have you priced things lately? Especially quality things... I mean, yikes. Enter CalCo. So first thing they did was send someone to do an initial assessment and give us a quote. The quote they gave me was, by orders of magnitude lower than the next lowest. That’s check one. Then they gave us our options. Quality, construction grade materials (not just the lick-and-stick plastic and rubber that SOME companies use, cough cough... Bath Fitter), and in a variety of styles that had options to appeal to both me (I’m tasteless white trash), and my wife (she has extraordinary taste... in decor, not men). There’s check two. Then the work started. Now, I’m an advocate for taking one’s time and doing it right, whatever the schedule. But the choice between expedience and precision craftsmanship was not an issue at all: not only was the crew they sent lickity-split on the job (Shout out my dudes Noah, Mike, Matt, and Jared), but they did incredible, professional work that I am honestly very, very impressed by. (SHOUT OUT MY DUDES NOAH, MIKE, MATT, AND JARED). And there’s the hat trick, because that’s a big ol’ Texas sized CHECK. They took care of everything, and as one room affected the next, they just kept going, kept fixing, kept it moving. And that’s to say nothing about the bathroom itself: it looks BALLER, y’all. It’s now my favorite room in the house, and that’s not just because I have the diet of a possum with access to a credit card. They did amazing work. So, in the interest of brevity, here’s my short review of CalCo: They crushed it. Then they rebuilt it better than ever. 10/10. Hire them when you need your house un-melted. I’m gonna hire them again for the next project, which I’m already planning.

My old bathroom needed to be updated. Calco proposed a very reasonable and attractive plan that I accepted. I am so happy with the finished result. My construction crew were Mickey and Josh. I can’t praise them enough. They are so skilled, so nice, so professional. They addressed every unexpected issue that came up. They did everything - demolition, installment, plumbing, electrical work, painting. They came up with novel solutions to make sure every detail was addressed to our satisfaction. Calco is a company that shows up on time, stays on the job until it’s finished, has top-notch contractors. They made sure to protect the surrounding floors and rooms from any dust and dirt. At the end of the day they cleaned up spotlessly. There are many horror stories out there of remodeling gone wrong. With this company, and especially with Mickey and Josh, you can have complete confidence and guarantee that you will be 100% satisfied. A shoutout to Kristy who is the best contact person. TY!!!!!

We would recommend CALCO for your bathroom renovations. Our craftsmen, Mello and Mike, did a great job converting our tub into a walk-in shower, as well as updating our vanity, flooring, and lighting. Their attention to detail and quality workmanship really showed throughout the project. They provided excellent communication regularly letting us know what was going on and what to expect. Whenever any issues arose, they were quick to find effective solutions with minimal disruption to the work. They also kept our home clean during every phase of the renovation, which helped ensure there was very little impact on our day-to-day routine. Kristi was also wonderful to work with—she checked in regularly from the time we signed the contract, throughout the project, and even after completion to make sure all our questions were answered and everything was running smoothly. The pricing was comparable to the other estimates we received, but CALCO’s service was significantly better. Overall, a very positive experience from start to finish.

We can highly recommend Calco Design LLC. We had a complete master bathroom renovation from the subfloor to some ceiling work. Brand new subfloor, floor boards, toilet, vanity, electrical - top to bottom. The project included the removal of a storage closet that expanded our standup shower into a beautiful masterpiece. Mickey and Josh were both professional and timely, and they included us throughout the process. We will be using Calco for future projects based on this experience, and we will ask for Mickey and Josh where possible.

My parents had a project planned to replace the vanity tops and fixtures in 4 bathrooms, and renovate the shower in the master. My father passed away unexpectedly 2 weeks before the project start date. The team at Calco could not have been more understanding and kind about the situation. My mom keeps a spotless house and we were both impressed at the measures taken to limit the dust and protect the floors and furniture. The bathrooms look beautiful, the craftsmanship is impeccable. There were some miscommunications around scheduling, but the team at Calco made it right as soon as they were alerted. There will be hiccups with any renovation project, how the contractors handle it is the most important. The Calco team made a difficult situation as easy as it could be, and now my mom has beautiful updated bathrooms to bring her some joy.

We had our Master bath completely renovated. We were able to pick out everything we wanted in one meeting. The team began the project at the estimated timeframe and completed only one day past the estimate. This was expected since we did make a couple of changes along the way. The team was very careful with our home, draping every and cleaning and vacuuming up before they left each night. The quality of the material was superior and we are thrilled with our finished bathroom. The project was not cheap, but the quality of the materials and the team that did the work reflected the value of the project

UPDATE: Paul, the principal owner, was extremely responsive to my concerns and has taken huge steps to make sure I’m happy with the end result. I truly appreciate his efforts and am happy to give this company five stars. ORIGINAL REVIEW: The installers—Noah, Matt, & Pierce— were terrific. Skilled, courteous, and exceedingly clean. Five stars for them. The initial contacts with the company were the problem. The salesperson Brandon was over-the-top pushy and high-pressure. It wasn’t until a week after his sales pitch that another employee mentioned in passing that I could visit a showroom and see samples. The process could have gone more smoothly had I been shown actual products or samples at the outset.

What Are the Signs It’s Time for a Tub-to-Shower Conversion?

A tub rarely fails dramatically. It fades, scales, cracks, and quietly stops earning the floor space it occupies. Here’s what we see most often when Lititz homeowners decide it’s finally time to make the change.

An Aging Cast Iron Tub

Plenty of Lititz homes built between the 1880s and 1920s still have their original cast iron tub upstairs, and the joists below were never engineered for that load long-term. Etched porcelain, rust creeping around the drain, and a slight bounce in the floor all point the same direction.

Borough homes often have steep, narrow staircases and only one full bath upstairs, which makes that 15-inch tub wall the most stressful part of the morning. For Lititz residents planning to stay put through retirement, a curbless bathtub-to-shower conversion in Lititz, PA, removes the daily hazard.

Lancaster County sits on limestone bedrock, and the mineral content runs aggressive enough to etch porcelain, leave white scale on every fixture, and embed itself in old grout. Once the tub finish has gone dull and no cleaner brings it back, you’ve moved past the maintenance phase.

Second-floor baths in many older borough homes were carved from former closets or tucked under attic dormers, leaving footprints around 5×7 feet with sloped ceilings on top of it. Pulling a built-in tub frees up real square footage and makes the room feel noticeably larger.

Pennsylvania summers run humid, and pre-war Lititz homes with original plaster walls and minimal mechanical ventilation hold that moisture for days. If you’re scrubbing the same dark spots around the tub surround every few weeks, the failing caulk and outdated materials are the actual culprit, not your cleaning routine.

What Are the Benefits of a Converting Your Tub to a Shower?

The right conversion changes how the bathroom looks, how it functions, and how the whole house feels day to day. These are the benefits Lititz homeowners tell us actually matter once the project is done.

A Bathroom That Fits How You Actually Live

Most Lititz households shower in the morning and rarely soak. Building around the routine you genuinely have, instead of one inherited from the previous owner, means the room finally earns its square footage. Tub-to-shower conversions in Lititz consistently turn the least-used room in the house into one of the most appreciated.

A low-threshold or curbless shower with proper grab bar blocking, a built-in bench, and a slip-resistant floor adds genuine aging-in-place value without any of the institutional look. For multigenerational Lititz households, it works just as well for grandparents visiting from a Landis Homes apartment as it does for kids.

We specify glass, fixtures, grout, and tile finishes that hold up against the hard, mineral-heavy water common throughout the Lititz area. That means coated glass that resists scale, fixture finishes that don’t pit, and grout sealed against the staining that ruined your old tub surround in the first place.

Loud, ultra-modern bathroom design rarely lands well in this town. Honed marble looks, classic subway tile, brushed nickel or matte black, and shaker-style vanities feel right at home in everything from a Federal-style twin to a newer Warwick Township build. We design conversions that look intentional, not transplanted.

In a market where buyers move quickly on well-kept Lititz properties, a primary bath that still has a 1970s built-in tub becomes a sticking point. A clean, well-built shower changes how the entire home photographs and shows, and our clients regularly see that reflected in offers when they eventually do list.

Old tub surrounds become a part-time job. Failing caulk lines, mildewed grout, mineral-stained porcelain, and corroded fixtures all eat real time. A properly built shower with sealed surfaces, modern drainage, and quality glass cuts that recurring maintenance down to a quick wipe-down, which matters in a busy household.

Our Tub-to-Shower Conversion Process

A clean process is what separates a one-day install from a two-week disruption. Here’s exactly how a tub-to-shower conversion in Lititz, PA, moves from first conversation to finished build with CalCo.

Step 1: In-Home Consultation and Assessment

We come to you, walk the bathroom, and look at the realities of the space — joist condition under that old cast iron tub, plaster wall integrity, existing plumbing routing, ventilation, and how the room sits within the rest of the home. You'll get straight answers and a clear sense of what's actually possible.

Step 2: Design and Material Selection

Next, we translate your vision into specifics. Tile, glass, fixtures, hardware finishes, niche placement, bench versus no bench, curbless versus low-threshold — every decision gets made on paper before a single tool comes out. Lititz homes deserve design choices that suit them, and we make sure every selection feels intentional.

Step 3: Demolition and Build

Demo day is controlled and contained. We protect floors and stairwells, remove the old tub and surround, address any plumbing or framing issues we uncover, and build out the new shower with proper waterproofing, blocking, and substrate prep. Skipping any of these steps is how leaks start, so we don't.

Step 4: Final Install and Walkthrough

Tile, glass, fixtures, and trim go in last, and the room gets cleaned to a finished state before we hand it back. We walk through every detail with you, explain how to care for the materials given local water conditions, and don't consider the project done until you're genuinely happy with it.

Why Work with CalCo Design & Renovation?

Plenty of contractors will quote a tub-to-shower conversion. Far fewer bring the local knowledge, craftsmanship, and accountability that hold up long after the final walkthrough. Here’s what sets CalCo apart for Lititz homeowners.

We Know Lititz Homes and the Area

Federal-style twins off Main, Victorians near the historic district, mid-century ranches in older Warwick Township pockets, and newer builds out toward Brunnerville each present different realities behind the walls. We’ve worked in enough of them to know what to expect before demo, including how local water and climate affect material choices.

Proper waterproofing, correct substrate prep, sealed penetrations, and tile work done by hands that have set thousands of square feet — that’s what separates a shower that lasts from one that leaks at year three. Every CalCo build gets the same uncompromising standards regardless of project size or budget.

You’ll know exactly what’s included, exactly what it costs, and exactly when payment milestones happen before any work begins. No surprise change orders for things we should’ve caught during the consultation, no inflated line items, and no vague “we’ll figure it out” estimates. Just transparent numbers from start to finish.

Tub-to-Shower Conversion FAQs

A tub-to-shower remodel in Lititz, PA, comes with plenty of fair questions, especially when you’re weighing it against the realities of an older home or a busy household. The answers below cover what Lititz homeowners ask us most often, from budget and timeline to materials, permitting, and what daily life looks like during the build.

How Much Does a Tub-to-Shower Conversion in Lititz Cost?

Most projects land somewhere between $13,000 and $18,000. Where yours falls depends on bathroom size, material grade, design complexity, and whether plumbing or electrical needs to shift. Premium fixtures, custom tile patterns, or added storage will push the number up from there.

Timeline ties directly to scope. A straightforward swap can be wrapped in as little as a single day, covering demo, plumbing and electrical, the new build, and final install. Custom layouts, structural work, or larger reconfigurations naturally extend that window.

Most conversions involving plumbing changes do require a permit through Warwick Township or the borough, depending on where you live. We handle the entire permitting process and any required inspections so nothing stalls the project, and so the work is properly documented for your records and any future home sale.

This question comes up often, and the short answer is no, as long as another tub remains somewhere in the home. Buyers in the Lititz market care far more about a well-built primary bath than a token tub. A clean, modern shower almost always strengthens an offer rather than weakening it.

Yes, in most cases. Older Lititz homes need their joists evaluated first, and the subfloor often has to be lowered to accommodate the drainage slope. We handle that structural work as part of the build, which is why a proper bathtub-to-shower conversion in Lititz, PA, requires real carpentry skill, not just tile work.

Coated low-iron glass, porcelain tile over natural stone in wet zones, quality epoxy-based grout, and PVD-finished fixtures all resist the mineral scaling that limestone-heavy water leaves behind. We specify these by default on Lititz projects because we’ve seen what happens to lesser materials after a few years in this region.

Almost never. Most Lititz households stay put through the entire build. We contain dust at the work zone, protect floors and stairwells, clean up at the end of every day, and coordinate water shutoffs around your schedule. Single-bath homes get extra planning so you’re never without a working shower overnight.

For Lititz residents planning to stay in their homes long-term, it’s one of the highest-impact updates available. A low-threshold or curbless shower with proper blocking, a built-in bench, and slip-resistant flooring removes daily fall risk and adds independence, all while looking like a refined design choice rather than a medical accommodation.

CalCo Design & Renovation is one of the best tub-to-shower conversion companies in Lititz because of our local expertise, uncompromising craftsmanship, and genuine accountability. We understand the homes here, we specify materials built for local conditions, and we stand behind every project long after the final walkthrough is complete.

It’s Time to Break Up with Your Tub

A tub-to-shower conversion in Lititz, PA, should feel like an upgrade from the first conversation to the final walkthrough, and that’s exactly what working with CalCo Design & Renovation looks like. Call us today to schedule your in-home consultation, and let’s start designing a bathroom that fits your home, your routine, and the way you want to live in this house for years to come.
