Tub-to-Shower Conversion in Lancaster, PA

My name’s Zac Jack. I’m a doughy, 37 year old stand-up comedian, and I’ve been a stay-at-home dad since emo was a thing, so when my bathroom finally started to literally melt under the strain of my utter incompetence when it comes to general maintenance, I threw up my hands and started looking for a grown-up to help me un-melt it.

I went through a few companies gathering quotes for an entire bathroom remodel and rebuild; I even got messages from the company that had previously done “work” on the bathroom (that’s a hard pass from me, Bath Fitter), and it was looking grim. Have you priced things lately? Especially quality things... I mean, yikes.

Enter CalCo.

So first thing they did was send someone to do an initial assessment and give us a quote. The quote they gave me was, by orders of magnitude lower than the next lowest. That’s check one.

Then they gave us our options. Quality, construction grade materials (not just the lick-and-stick plastic and rubber that SOME companies use, cough cough... Bath Fitter), and in a variety of styles that had options to appeal to both me (I’m tasteless white trash), and my wife (she has extraordinary taste... in decor, not men). There’s check two.

Then the work started. Now, I’m an advocate for taking one’s time and doing it right, whatever the schedule. But the choice between expedience and precision craftsmanship was not an issue at all: not only was the crew they sent lickity-split on the job (Shout out my dudes Noah, Mike, Matt, and Jared), but they did incredible, professional work that I am honestly very, very impressed by. (SHOUT OUT MY DUDES NOAH, MIKE, MATT, AND JARED). And there’s the hat trick, because that’s a big ol’ Texas sized CHECK.

They took care of everything, and as one room affected the next, they just kept going, kept fixing, kept it moving. And that’s to say nothing about the bathroom itself: it looks BALLER, y’all. It’s now my favorite room in the house, and that’s not just because I have the diet of a possum with access to a credit card. They did amazing work.

So, in the interest of brevity, here’s my short review of CalCo: They crushed it. Then they rebuilt it better than ever. 10/10. Hire them when you need your house un-melted. I’m gonna hire them again for the next project, which I’m already planning.

My old bathroom needed to be updated. Calco proposed a very reasonable and attractive plan that I accepted. I am so happy with the finished result. My construction crew were Mickey and Josh. I can’t praise them enough. They are so skilled, so nice, so professional. They addressed every unexpected issue that came up. They did everything - demolition, installment, plumbing, electrical work, painting. They came up with novel solutions to make sure every detail was addressed to our satisfaction. Calco is a company that shows up on time, stays on the job until it’s finished, has top-notch contractors. They made sure to protect the surrounding floors and rooms from any dust and dirt. At the end of the day they cleaned up spotlessly. There are many horror stories out there of remodeling gone wrong. With this company, and especially with Mickey and Josh, you can have complete confidence and guarantee that you will be 100% satisfied. A shoutout to Kristy who is the best contact person. TY!!!!!

We would recommend CALCO for your bathroom renovations. Our craftsmen, Mello and Mike, did a great job converting our tub into a walk-in shower, as well as updating our vanity, flooring, and lighting. Their attention to detail and quality workmanship really showed throughout the project. They provided excellent communication regularly letting us know what was going on and what to expect.
Whenever any issues arose, they were quick to find effective solutions with minimal disruption to the work. They also kept our home clean during every phase of the renovation, which helped ensure there was very little impact on our day-to-day routine.
Kristi was also wonderful to work with—she checked in regularly from the time we signed the contract, throughout the project, and even after completion to make sure all our questions were answered and everything was running smoothly.
The pricing was comparable to the other estimates we received, but CALCO’s service was significantly better.
Overall, a very positive experience from start to finish.

We can highly recommend Calco Design LLC. We had a complete master bathroom renovation from the subfloor to some ceiling work. Brand new subfloor, floor boards, toilet, vanity, electrical - top to bottom. The project included the removal of a storage closet that expanded our standup shower into a beautiful masterpiece. Mickey and Josh were both professional and timely, and they included us throughout the process. We will be using Calco for future projects based on this experience, and we will ask for Mickey and Josh where possible.

Ed and Josh were wonderful craftsmen. They worked hard and made sure that everything I wanted was done. They worked as a team and made sure to get everything right. My parents had a project planned to replace the vanity tops and fixtures in 4 bathrooms, and renovate the shower in the master. My father passed away unexpectedly 2 weeks before the project start date. The team at Calco could not have been more understanding and kind about the situation. My mom keeps a spotless house and we were both impressed at the measures taken to limit the dust and protect the floors and furniture. The bathrooms look beautiful, the craftsmanship is impeccable. There were some miscommunications around scheduling, but the team at Calco made it right as soon as they were alerted. There will be hiccups with any renovation project, how the contractors handle it is the most important. The Calco team made a difficult situation as easy as it could be, and now my mom has beautiful updated bathrooms to bring her some joy.

"Incredible Remodel!" From the initial consultation to the final touches, everything was perfect. The attention to detail was outstanding. Matt and Shane were very professional and ensured all of our requests were met. I highly recommend this business.

We had our Master bath completely renovated. We were able to pick out everything we wanted in one meeting. The team began the project at the estimated timeframe and completed only one day past the estimate. This was expected since we did make a couple of changes along the way.
The team was very careful with our home, draping every and cleaning and vacuuming up before they left each night.
The quality of the material was superior and we are thrilled with our finished bathroom.

The project was not cheap, but the quality of the materials and the team that did the work reflected the value of the project

ORIGINAL REVIEW: The installers—Noah, Matt, & Pierce— were terrific. Skilled, courteous, and exceedingly clean. Five stars for them. The initial contacts with the company were the problem. The salesperson Brandon was over-the-top pushy and high-pressure. It wasn’t until a week after his sales pitch that another employee mentioned in passing that I could visit a showroom and see samples. The process could have gone more smoothly had I been shown actual products or samples at the outset.

Calco was awesome!!!! The guys, were Mickey and Josh were amazing!!! The were friendly and polite and professional.

Micky and Josh did a phenomenal job on our shower remodel. They arrived on time, took extraordinary care in everything they did and were excellent communicators. Calco remodeled two bathrooms for us. One was a significant change that included moving a wall to double the bathroom size.
Wendel and Mike did the work. They were very professional and conscientious. The work was done on time and within budget. The fellows took special care to protect the rest of the house from construction traffic and debris.

Josh and Mickey were excellent and very helpful. They walked us thru each step of the project asked for our opinion for placement of grab bars and shelving. They were very courteous and respectful of our home. Their work was excellent even when the project became more difficult then expected. We would gladly welcome them back.

From our first meeting with Matt and Neill in formulating a plan for our 1967 bathrooms, to being updated by Rob (yay RVA!) to having Ed and Pierce doing the awesome work, we couldn’t be happier.
We were so impressed with Ed and Pierce. They prepared our home with ram board and plastic enclosures to keep damage and dust to a minimum. They were very respectful of our possessions inside and outside and cleaned up at the end of each day. Through this intense work, they were very pleasant and make a great team. Their outstanding skills in their craft is excellent! Every stage was done meticulously. Our family bath and half bath are now beautiful. In addition, they drove 3+ hours round trip each day! Amazing job! Josh and Mickey replaced an ugly acrylic eyesore of a shower with a beautiful non-acrylic shower. These two work together like a well-oiled machine and did a fabulous job of updating my shower. It was quite obvious that the most important part of their job was to make sure I was happy with the result. They always came through for me. I love the new shower! I would recommend Calco to anyone looking to do updates like this.

The installation of the tube was executed efficiently and promptly by the team.

CalCo recently completed our complete kitchen and family room remodel. Everything got taken out, down to the bare walls. From the first day Matt, Josh, and Wendell came into our house, they were polite, kept a clean workspace, they were always mindful about our pets when going in and out of the house to make sure there were no escapes, and constantly communicated with us to make sure we knew what the daily plan was and if there were any issues that needed to be addressed.

The only thing left for our project is some minor touch ups and CalCo has not dropped the ball on that. They have been in regular communication with me to schedule the completion of those final touches. I've had the unfortunate experience of previous contractors never coming back to complete those finishing touch ups, but these guys see the project through to the end.

Jerod and Mike did a phenominal job on my long overdue bathroom renovation. There was extended damage to the flooring beneath the bath tub and parts of the kitchen. I know how long and hard Jerod and Mike worked to make sure the flooring for the new bathroom was safe and secure. They were then able to remake my over 20 year old bathroom. New bath and shower, vanity, lighing, new insulated walls, and floors.
I have to say that Jerod and Mike have been gifted by God. My bathroom is bright and beautiful and a joy to use it.

I cannot say enough about our tub install team Mickey and Josh. They went above and beyond their duty. Beyond excited!!!

Had Calco replace a porcelain over cast iron tub with a step in shower. Just used my shower for the first time and I could hardly believe I was in my own bathroom. Caleb and Noah were great. They kept me informed every step of the way. There were 2 small wrinkles but they were resolved. I almost can't wait to save up to get my kitchen done. I will definitely be calling CalCo.

CalCo was awesome to deal with from start to finish. Their attention to detail was far and above better than most competitors. I appreciated how Mickey and Josh kept me abreast of everything during the length of the project. I would definitely recommend CalCo to my family and friends.

This in total took them a little over a week. They were excellent with details. Any issues that we ran into were resolved 100% quickly and they do take pride in quality. What I absolutely loved about this was the project was done. Start to finish. They did the plumbing and electrical changes in the Existing outlets. The flooring. The painting. They took care of everything. The only thing I had to Pick up on my own were lights and the mirror. You can pick from a number of different patterns for your cabinets and walls in the shower. I love the hardware in the shower and the sink. Mickey and Josh were great. They had no problem with me checking in and asking questions and asking for things to be done the way I wanted it. (Like the height on the shelves and shower curtain rod). I’m a satisfied customer.
I asked around to different companies and individuals And I was told that the price was right.

Calco completed our kitchen renovation which included new cabinets, countertops, backsplash, and the installation of new appliances. Our overall experience was very positive. The quality of work and attention to detail that Jerod and Mike provided while on site was superior. They were incredibly friendly and respectful of our home. It truly was a pleasure having them around during our four week project. Jerod did a fantastic job communicating with us throughout the duration of the project to ensure we were on the same page and our expectations were being met. Ed and Pierce came to remodel our bathroom, the installed a new shower, vanity, flooring, towel bars, toilet paper holder and painted. They did a very good job and would highly recomend.

Darryl & Bryce from CalCo have been here every day this week putting in a new bathroom for us. They were here first thing every morning. Loved their communication. They kept us in the loop on their progress & pulled us in if there were any questions.
We joked with them about being "the Dream Team", but it's seriously no joke...they ARE the Dream Team. Their attention to detail was impressive. We have a 100-year-old house so it comes with its challenges & they used their craftsmanship to crush every hurdle. For example, they created a section of molding to match the existing crown molding because, they simply don't make ours anymore. It's a perfect match.
I cannot wait for the next home project, because we know we'll be calling the Dream Team.
