Tucked into an older home on in Bala Cynwyd, this small bathroom came with big personality and even bigger challenges. The original plan called for moving the shared wall between the bedroom and bathroom to expand the space, but after weighing the costs, the clients decided the smarter move was to stay within the existing footprint and invest in a refined, elevated finish instead. That is where CalCo’s approach made the difference: rather than upselling a larger project, the team worked closely with the homeowners to design a remodel that matched their comfort level while still delivering a result that felt far more upscale than its actual scope. 

The project demanded serious problem solving from day one. Crews removed old mortared tile and a heavy cast iron tub, along with outdated plumbing fixtures that needed a full update. To keep costs down without sacrificing style, the team installed beadboard directly over existing wall tile, a technique that delivered a polished new look while limiting demo, dust, and vibration in a home with original plaster walls. 

Other highlights included:

• New electrical work to support a fully lighted mirror
• A custom trim solution for a window inside the shower, properly sealed to shed water and hold up long term
• Reinforced tile work over wire and concrete in place of the old cast iron tub area
